James McAvoy has said that he lived off £1,200 for five years when he was younger!
The Scottish actor admitted that times were tough after his parents got divorced as he and his sister had to live with their grandparents:
"We lived in a kind of rough-enough area. My grandparents and mother were very protective and made sure that no harm came to us. They were quite controlling, and until about the age of 15 or 16, I was firmly on a leash."
The 'Wanted' star added that he got paid for his first acting job for his role in 'The Near Room' and that's all he had to live on:
"I got paid something like £1,200, and that kept me going for about five years."
Wow so many actors lived rough before stardom!
